On May 10, 1858, after a strenuous journey by ship and train, six young Sisters of the Holy Names (SNJMs) arrived in San Francisco from Canada. They were met by the Sisters of Mercy, who treated them to strawberries and cream. Since then, the Sisters celebrate May 10th as Strawberry Day.
May 10, 2018 marked the 150th anniversary of their arrival, and the beginning of a year-long celebration of SNJM ministry in California. We invite you to share your memories with us and to join us in our commitment to service and social justice.
